Galus

Bio:

Rafał Gałaszewski (b. 18.05.1984 in Olecko) produces and publishes under his nom de plume – Galus aka Pokój Czarnych Płyt. He’s been intensely associated with hip-hop and experimental electronics scene. His career launch dates back to 1999 when the group Dla Siebie i Dla Swoich was operational. His productions are deep-seated in hip-hop as well as electronic music eagerly adopting elements of raw psychodelic aesthetics. His major works include the 2009 debut 'Retro Lyrics’ (initially self-released, later re-issued by the revered New York’s Soulspazm Records), and a 7” and digital '100206′ EP (w/DJ Krug) on Soulspazm. However, it was the 2011 Futura LP (U Know Me) which harvested applause, praise and celebration at a massive scale. Apart from being quoted in most of musical recaps of the year, hoardes of journalists proclaimed it the most essential release on Polish scene in 2011. What followed was the solo-material by Hades (of Hifi Banda), which was entirely designed by Galus. Saturated with dusty, outlandish, far-out and fantastic ambience the 'Nowe Dobro To Zło’ album reaped benign reviews as the most skillfully produced album of 2011. The list of achievements does not end here. Galus recorded one of the most memorable mixes out there: the 2010 Footprints #16: Diggin Europe: The Mission 60′-80′ , which employs the collage method to mingle 68 sound snippets in order to portray the identity of European music in the period of 1960-1980.
